Siet 2012 Conference
We are pleased to
announce that the XIV Conference of the Italian
Association of Transport Economics (SIET) (www.sietitalia.org) will be held in Bari, Italy, June 28th
‐30th, 2012
Title
The title of this year's Conference is "Infrastructure,
Accessibility and Growth". The aim of the Conference is
to promote academic debate and in‐depth scientific interactions
among researchers on recent developments in the field of
infrastructure and transport economics and, more generally, of
networks economics. Specifically, the focus will be on the role of
accessibility, mobility and capital endowment in promoting welfare
increases, productive efficiency, social inclusion and economic
growth.
Topics
Theoretical and empirical papers are welcome on the topics of the
Conference and on related issues such as (not exhaustively):
transport policy from a micro and a macro‐economic perspective;
modal and intermodal competition; market structure; financing,
pricing and regulation of infrastructures and services; multilevel
governance in transport; logistics; freight distribution;
innovation; ICT; network industries; tourism; land management;
urban economics; specific transport sectors (maritime, ports,
aviation, rail, etc.). Proposals for dedicated sessions on
specific issues are welcome.
Venue
The Conference is organised at the Faculty of Economics of the University of
Bari "Aldo Moro", the second most ancient Faculty of Economics in
Italy. The city of Bari is in Apulia, a beautiful region in the
South of Italy rich on natural and cultural sites (http://www.viaggiareinpuglia.it/hp/en).

Abstract
Please
submit an extended abstract (2‐4 pages or 500‐800 words) filling
the registration data form The document
should indicate title, author(s), affiliations, corresponding
contact, JEL classification and three keywords. The abstract
should state clearly the research question, the methodology, the
main (or expected) results and references. The abstracts will be
refereed by a scientific committee.

Accepted papers notification: May 12nd 2012;

register individually within the 5th June.
Reminder: It is compulsory to register within the 5th of June. Only papers of registered authors will be included in the conference proceedings.

Those who would like to organise specific thematic sessions
can make a proposal to the local organiser Angela Stefania

by the 29th of February. Special sessions have already been

Among others, Salvatore Rossi (Deputy Director general of
the Bank of Italy), Richard Arnott (University of
California, Riverside), Andrè de Palma (Ecole Normale
Supérieure de Cachan), will hold keynote lectures. We are
waiting for other confirmations.
