Topic
The aim of the Conference is to discuss, in an interdisciplinary
context, the latest developments concerning the relationships between
transport and economic systems at various spatial dimensions
(urban, regional, global). Transport, industrial and regional
economists, transport engineers and geographers, key
representatives of public bodies, agencies and companies will
participate and share various perspectives. Theoretical and
empirical papers are welcome.
Suggested topics:
- road, maritime, air, rail and local public transport; port economics;
- modal and intermodal competition; market structure; efficiency analysis;
- financing, pricing and regulating transport infrastructure;
- transport policy;
- freight distribution and logistics;
- urban economics, congestion, innovation and smart cities;
- spatial analysis, land management,
transport geography, tourism.
The Conference will be organized by the Department of Design and Planning in Complex Environments of the Università IUAV di Venezia. Sessions will be hosted at Badoer, Isola di S. Servolo and at the premise of the Venice Port Authority.
Call for papers
Abstracts
Please submit an extended abstract (500-800 words) to mazzarin@iuav.it and sietvenice2013@gmail.com
The abstract should indicate title, author(s), affiliations, corresponding contact, JEL classification and three keywords. Abstracts should state clearly the research question, the methodology, the main results and references. All submissions will undergo a double blind peer review. As some parts of the conference will be in Italian and other parts in English, with no simultaneous translation, please let us know whether your prefer to give your presentation in English, in Italian or if you allow the organizers to choose, and submit your abstract accordingly. Depending on the authors’ preferences, English and Italian sessions will be organized.
Conference Output
The papers of registered authors will be included in the Conference Proceedings. Selected presentations will be invited to submit to a Special Issue of the “Rivista di Economia e Politica dei Trasporti”. Moreover, the authors will have to possibility to submit their papers to the SIET Working Paper Series, indexed in RePec.
